I found this wonderful piece by Carol Kappus in the Spring 2026 edition of Folk Harp Journal. Carol Kappus is an award-winning Celtic harpist and I found some of her music this past Christmas and loved it. To get another one of her pieces, and for free, was a big win. A lot of her music is still way too difficult for me, but I found this one to be very approachable right from the beginning. I played it in church a few weeks ago and it was well received. It is also just really fun to play.
I have been wanting to play my harp “in the wild” as they say. Up until now the weather hasn’t been very cooperative. I thought I would place this particular piece because I love it and I was pretty sure it was settled pretty well under my fingers. It turned out to be quite a learning experience. The wind picked up right as I got set up. Then Roxy (one of my dogs) started digging a hole right next to where I was playing. Even seeing all of the plants and trees and sunlight was quite distracting. I had not anticipated exactly how different it would be to play outside.
I plan to do this again soon. But for now, here is my recording of Sundance.
