I’ve written about gratitude often and I post a gratitude list almost every month. My own personal journal includes daily entries for gratitude. Today, my gratitude post is a little bit different. This time it is about a song. Gratitude is a lovely early intermediate harp piece by Anne Crosby Gaudet. This arrangement was written for a large harp but she also has a small harp arrangement too. It is available at musicdiscoveries.shop and she releases youtube videos of her compositions pretty frequently. One of the many people I am grateful for is Anne Crosby Gaudet. I play a lot of her original compositions and arrangements. Her sheet music is always so well-written. Additionally, she seems to like the same styles of music that I enjoy. If that wasn’t enough, the videos she releases often have gorgeous background scenery. I remember one that I watched recently that had baby geese in it.
This piece, in addition to sharing the title with one of my favorite subjects, is really satisfying to play. It has a very calm and cozy feel about it, but still creates a sense of optimism and pleasure. My favorite section, a right hand pattern, starts about 1/3 of the way through and repeats a few times. I also enjoy the dynamic changes. My lone “complaint” about this composition is that it is just too short. However, with the piece ending on the 5th of the chord it is pretty easy to just loop back to the beginning.
I’ve recently added this to my setlist and I’ve had a lot of positive feedback. I’m grateful to have pieces of music such as this one that are both pleasant to listen to and a pleasure to play.
